SeychellesNature ClubThe isolated islands of Seychelles are a fragile home to a variety of unique and amazing plants and animals. Their survival is threatened by a host of past and present human activities from the removal of forest and coastal pollution to the introduction of alien species and over exploitation of the marine environment. FOC is supporting the work of the Wildlife Clubs of Seychelles (WCS). The WCS have a high profile in the Seychelles, promoting conservation and environmental education for children. They also undertake practical work where remedial action is needed. Some 800 children currently participate through 30 clubs. Despite their success the WCS wish to reach more children and to become more accessible to the general public. FOC is helping finance the administrative needs of these clubs to help more children learn about their natural environment and how it can be preserved. |
