Raise Funds for FOC

There are many other ways you can help - for instance, taking part in some amazing challenge events. Why not go to our Fundraising Page and find out how you can have fun - and make a difference!

We are looking for a new Trustee to help our long-standing mission to save endangered wildlife and threatened habitats.

FOCís objective is the advancement of education in nature conservation generally and we manage a wide range of conservation and community programmes with the aim of protecting endangered species and their habitats. Working in rural areas outside Kenya's renowned Masai Mara National Reserve,  we encourage communities to understand the need to conserve their environment and use natural resources more sustainably.    For conservation to be successful, people must benefit and we offer practical support with the aim of improving overall living standards. Our field activities include conservation education for schools, and providing funding and assistance to help people set up sustainable businesses such as beekeeping. We train and maintain a team of Maasai rangers who monitor wild animal movements and look out for signs of poaching. The charity also organises and facilitates workshops, aiming to reduce conflict between people and animals - and providing advice on key health issues, including the prevention and treatment of HIV/Aids, TB and Malaria.

In addition we work with like-minded partners with similar objectives in other regions including Costa Rica, India, Peru , South Africa and Sri Lanka where rural communities face similar challenges through living so closely to wild animals.

We are looking for an individual who will actively participate as a key member of our Board to help raise our profile through their experience and expertise. Acting as the charityís ambassador, you will facilitate opportunities with potential donors and other potential funding sources and will support fundraising activities with a particular focus on increasing unrestricted funding through public and corporate avenues.

Whilst an understanding of the voluntary sector and previous experience as a charity trustee are desirable, these are not essential. If you have a keen interest in wildlife conservation and community development and want to make a difference, we would like to hear from you.

Please email enclosing your CV and a brief statement of why you would like to get involved. Alternatively, please call the office on 020 3667 7017 to discuss the role further.
